Biography -

Dr. Keren Michael is a Senior Lecturer in the Departments of Social Work and Human Services at The Max Stern Yezreel Valley College, Israel. She holds a B.A. in Social Work from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Haifa. Her research focuses on risk behaviors and coping mechanisms across life transitions and organizational settings, with particular attention to maladaptive behaviors such as violent romantic relationships, substance use, and high-risk sexual activity among youth. She also investigates personal and interpersonal coping resources in response to crises and loss, aiming to promote resilience and psychological well-being. In the organizational domain, her work centers on the health professions, emphasizing the therapeutic alliance between practitioners and clients, strategies to prevent burnout, improvement of communication among care teams and patients, enhancement of medical professionalism, and the advancement of person-centered care.
