Autonomous and Intelligent Cyber Defense Systems

Autonomous and Intelligent Cyber Defence Systems is a new state-of-the-art security system where Artificial Intelligence, automation, and adaptive decision making work together to detect, analyze, respond, and neutralize cyber threats with little to no human interaction. Unlike traditional tools, which only take action after being prompted, these systems proactively monitor a multitude of areas including networks, endpoints, applications, and ML (machine learning) cloud systems. Behavioral analytics enables these systems to recognize, predict, and assess a multitude of risks in real-time, including cyber threats and malicious intent. Because of their autonomy, these systems easily operate at machine speed, which is vital to counter-attack lethal cyber threats. These systems employ closed-loop feedback systems where detection, reasoning, and response are integrated. When a threat is detected, the system can take defensive actions automatically, such as, isolating compromised assets, blocking hostile traffic, deploying patches, modifying access controls, and learning from the event to enhance response strategies. Strong governance, explain ability, and human-in-the-loop mechanisms foster a sense of trust and autonomy to remain within the boundaries of an organization’s policies. Autonomous and smart cyber defense systems are most important in large, complex, and mission-critical settings, where the quantity and speed of threats surpass human needs and where rapid and adjustable defense is crucial to remain cyber resilient.
