Biography -

My name is Girum Getachew Demissie, and I am currently serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), a position I have held since 2022. My academic and professional journey has been deeply shaped by my passion for applying nanotechnology to solve pressing biomedical challenges, particularly in the areas of cancer therapy, bioimaging, and chemical sensing.

I earned my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, where my research focused on the design, synthesis, and functionalization of nanomaterials for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. Over the years, I have developed a strong expertise in the fabrication and application of nanoparticles, including quantum dots, carbon dots, perovskite quantum dots, metal chalcogenides, and polymer nanoparticles. My work explores how these nanomaterials can be engineered to interact precisely with biological systems, enabling targeted cancer therapy, real-time cellular imaging, and highly sensitive biosensing.

Beyond my research, I actively contribute to the scientific community as a peer reviewer for several reputed international journals, ensuring the quality and integrity of emerging research in nanoscience and biomedical engineering. My publications and review works reflect a commitment to bridging the gap between fundamental material science and practical medical applications.

Throughout my career, I have been driven by curiosity, persistence, and the belief that innovation in materials science can transform healthcare. Working in a multidisciplinary and international environment at NTUST has further broadened my perspective and strengthened my resolve to pursue research that not only advances scientific understanding but also offers tangible benefits to society.
