About the Journal

Cancer chemotherapy is a cornerstone of modern oncology, involving the use of powerful drugs to destroy cancer cells or inhibit their growth and spread. It targets rapidly dividing cells, a hallmark of cancer, and may be administered orally, intravenously, or through other delivery systems. Chemotherapy can be used alone or in combination with other treatments such as surgery, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy, depending on the cancer type, stage, and patient condition.

The goals of chemotherapy vary curative, palliative, or to shrink tumors before surgery (neoadjuvant) or after surgery to prevent recurrence (adjuvant). Despite its effectiveness, chemotherapy can cause side effects due to its impact on healthy cells, necessitating careful dosing and supportive care.

Advancements in drug development, delivery mechanisms, and personalized medicine are continuously improving the efficacy and tolerability of chemotherapy. Research is also focusing on minimizing resistance, enhancing tumor specificity, and integrating chemotherapy with precision oncology strategies for better clinical outcomes.
