Professor Alfio Ferlito is a globally recognized authority in Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery.
He earned his MD from the University of Bologna in 1968, followed by specializations in Otolaryngology and Pathology.

From 1970 to 1997, he served in the ENT Department at the University of Padua, before joining the University of Udine, where he held leadership roles as Professor and Chairman of the ENT Clinic and Director of Surgical Sciences.

Since 2009, Professor Ferlito has coordinated the International Head Neck Scientific Group (IHNSG) — a leading global network of experts advancing head and neck cancer research and education.

With over 842 peer-reviewed publications, 54 book chapters, and several landmark textbooks, his work has profoundly shaped the modern understanding and management of head and neck diseases.

He is listed among the World’s Top 2% Scientists (Stanford University, 2024 update), ranked 6th among 1,052 otolaryngologists (2023) and 8th career-long for lifetime contribution.
