Alejandro Medina Santiago is a researcher in the Department of Computer Science at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics, and Electronics, commissioned by SECIHTI. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute, where he also earned his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He completed his undergraduate studies in Electronics Engineering at the Technological Institute of Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
His research interests include signal processing, machine learning and deep learning for the processing, analysis, and diagnosis of automotive ecosystems for road safety; cybersecurity at both software and hardware levels; the Internet of Things (IoT); Industry 4.0; VLSI integrated circuit design; and the development of intelligent systems based on neural networks and fuzzy logic.

1. Conducts research in signal processing, machine learning, deep learning, cybersecurity, IoT, Industry 4.0, VLSI circuit design, neural networks, and fuzzy logic.
2. Designs and develops CMOS and floating-gate-based integrated circuits for intelligent and reconfigurable hardware systems.
3. Publishes scientific papers in JCR and Scopus-indexed journals and IEEE conferences on intelligent systems, robotics, hardware security, biomedical and automotive applications.
4. Participates in and leads funded research projects related to automotive embedded systems, deep neural networks, IoT monitoring platforms, and image-based diagnostic systems.
5. Supervises doctoral, master's, and bachelor's theses in areas such as neuro-fuzzy control, biomedical signal classification, robotics, cybersecurity, mechatronics, and intelligent automation.
6. Develops applied research prototypes, embedded systems, robotics platforms, and intelligent control applications for engineering and industrial environments.
7. Registers and contributes to technological development through software tools and applied engineering solutions.
8. Presents research results at national and international scientific congresses and conferences.
9. Engages in collaborative research with multidisciplinary teams in electronics, computing, mechatronics, and intelligent systems.
10. Contributes to academic formation through teaching and mentoring in artificial intelligence, IoT, electronics, robotics, algorithms, and advanced computing.
