Prof. Abdel-Hamid Ali Soliman is a Professor of Signal Processing and Telecommunications at Staffordshire University, United Kingdom, and Director of Research Students in Engineering. He is also an Honorary Professor at Xi’an University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. He earned his PhD in Image Processing and Pattern Recognition from Staffordshire University in 2007, along with postgraduate certificates in Research Methods and Research Supervision. Earlier, he completed his MSc in Information Technology from Alexandria University and his BEng in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.

With more than 30 years of academic and research experience across the UK, Egypt, Jordan, and the USA, Prof. Soliman’s research focuses on digital signal processing, telecommunications, Internet of Things (IoT), wireless sensor networks, and smart systems for applications such as smart cities, healthcare, and agriculture. He has supervised numerous postgraduate students, led several international research collaborations and funded projects, and serves as an editor, reviewer, and associate editor for several international journals including IEEE publications.

1. Working on integrating multiple technologies to develop smart systems for real-life applications such as healthcare, smart agriculture, and smart cities.
2. Established an international research network with collaborators from China, Jordan, Egypt, the USA, Saudi Arabia, and India.
3. Produced internationally recognized research outputs published in highly ranked journals through this collaborative network.
4. Founded the Smart and Intelligent Systems Society (SISS) to strengthen research collaboration and technological solutions for societal challenges.
5. Built a research society consisting of around 300 members, including professors and graduate researchers.
6. Active member of Smart Systems, AI and Cybersecurity (SSAICS) and Staffordshire Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Engineering (SCRSE) research centres.
7. Leading the Smart Systems research group within both research centres.
8. Developing research plans linking academic research expertise with community and industry needs.
9. Supervising 13 current PhD students.
10. Successfully supervised 14 PhD students to completion.
11. Supervised more than 100 MSc research projects in computing and engineering disciplines.
12. Served as internal examiner, external examiner, and chair for 30 PhD viva examinations.
13. Serving as Associate Editor for IEEE Access.
14. Editor for The Computer Science Journal (PeerJ).
15. Editor for the American Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
16. Member of the Editorial Board of Sustainability (MDPI).
17. Technical Programme Committee member for several journals and international conferences.
