Biography -

Dr. Harwinder Singh is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana, India, with a Ph.D. from Punjabi University and over two decades of academic and research experience in industrial engineering, operations management, human factors engineering, lean manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and occupational health and safety. He has led multiple nationally funded research projects as Principal Investigator, published extensively in reputed international journals, and received several prestigious honors including the Visvesvaraya Best Teacher Award (AICTE) and the Rajarambapu Patil National Award. Dr. Singh is a Fellow and senior member of leading professional bodies and serves on the editorial boards of international journals, contributing significantly to engineering education, research, and industry-focused innovation.

Actively engaged in advanced research in Mechanical Engineering with strong focus on Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Human Factors Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.
Principal Investigator for multiple funded research projects sponsored by government and institutional agencies, covering areas such as vibration exposure and health effects, TPM implementation, continuous improvement strategies, SME competitiveness, and laboratory upgradation, with cumulative funding running into several crores of rupees.
Published an extensive body of scholarly work including more than 180 research papers, book chapters, and conference proceedings in reputed international journals and publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, Emerald, Taylor & Francis, World Scientific, and InderScience.
Contributed significantly to interdisciplinary research spanning manufacturing systems, quality management practices, ergonomics, occupational health, additive manufacturing, composites, inventory management, and decision-making methodologies such as AHP, TOPSIS, ISM, DEA, and VIKOR.
Served as Editorial Board Member for international journals including the International Journal of Semantic and Infrastructure Services and the International Journal of Data Science, contributing to peer review and editorial decision-making.
Actively involved in peer review of manuscripts for several international journals in the areas of industrial engineering, operations management, and manufacturing systems.
Received prestigious national-level recognitions and research awards such as the UGC Research Award, Visvesvaraya Best Teacher Award (AICTE), ISTE National Award, and multiple Best Paper and Best Case Study awards, reflecting sustained academic and scientific excellence.
Maintains professional engagement through lifetime and senior memberships in leading technical and scientific bodies including ISTE, Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering, Operational Research Society of India, and International Association of Engineers.
Contributed to capacity building and knowledge dissemination by integrating research outcomes into teaching, laboratory development, industry-oriented case studies, and SME consultancy-oriented empirical investigations.
