Prof. Hairui Yang received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in Thermal Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1997, 2000, and 2003, respectively. In 2003, he started his working experience. He was a Lecturer at the Department of Thermal Engineering at Tsinghua University from 2003 to 2006. Then, he became an Associate Professor in the same department from 2006 to 2013. Since 2013, he has been a Professor. His research interests are gas-solid fluidization, circulating fluidized bed coal combustion technology, and pollution control. He has been in charge of several research projects involving coal combustion, biomass utilization, and emission control. He has extensive experience in boiler design and operation, energy saving and discharge optimization, and emission control on the flue gas from boilers. Also, He has been the project leader of several international projects from EDF (France), Alstom( USA), IHI (Japan) VTT (Finland), and B&W (USA), which cover the fundamental research and industrial application in CFB boiler. Currently, he is the project leader of the Key Project of the National twelve‐Five Year Research Program of China, “The research and demonstration on the energy saving and low emission CFB boiler”. He has an extensive international network in CFB combustion, fluidization, and emission control
