Osama M. Ahmed (born in November 24, 1970, Egypt) is a professor of physiology at the Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University, Egypt. He was granted a PhD in Physiology from the Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt in the year 2000. He holds 165 publications (in Scopus) in the fields of his expertise in international journals. He has published 28 book chapters. He has an H-Index of 35 and citations of 4,190 (in Scopus). He has participated as a principal investigator and co-investigator in many research projects. He was awarded the State Incentive Prize (2014), the Beni-Suef University Excellence Prize (2014), and the First Class Medal of Excellence in Egypt (2017). He was included in the top 2% of most cited scientists worldwide by the Stanford University Global Scientist Citations Ranking (2021 - 2024).
Fields of research interests: diabetes mellitus, obesity, carcinogenesis, drug-induced toxicity, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperoxaluria, hyperhomocysteinemia, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism and assessment of medicinal plant their constituents as well as novel synthetic organic compounds as protective, preventive and therapeutic remedies. Recently, we are interested in the application and use of stem cells and their secretory extracellular vesicles (microvesicles, exosomes and microRNAs) in the treatment of various degenerative and autoimmune diseases in experimental animals.
