Mr. Basabele Ngalo completed his BSc (Hons) and MSc in Chemistry from the University of Fort Hare and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Nelson Mandela University. His doctoral research involves analyzing heavy metals in mining wastewater to develop sustainable methods for reducing the mining industry's environmental impact, specifically on water sources. Beyond this, Mr. Ngalo has also contributed to cancer research, with a publication in Pharmaceutics and a book chapter for Springer on using polysaccharide-modified nanoliposomes for breast cancer therapy.

Performs comprehensive soil, water, and wastewater assessments using advanced analytical techniques and digital monitoring tools.

• Industrial Gas Testing & Safety Compliance:

Executes confined-space atmospheric monitoring (CO, H₂S, O₂, LEL%), ensuring adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and ISO standards.

• Laboratory-Based Scientific Research:

Skilled in chemical analysis, method development, QA/QC, and the use of advanced instrumentation (GC-MS, ICP-OES, FTIR, NMR, SEM/TEM).

• Research & Development (R&D):

Engages in experimental design, problem-solving, and multistep organic synthesis for environmental and industrial applications.

• Academic Support & Teaching Activities:

Provided laboratory demonstrations, student support, academic writing guidance, and evaluation of teaching and lab sessions.

• Sustainability & Environmental Leadership:

Led environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives, focusing on ISO 14001-aligned environmental management.

Contributes to technical reports, thesis work, academic papers, and collaborative research publications.
